The Asha Deevena Tailoring Project is a sustainable self-help training program aiming to teach tailoring skills to poor unemployed young women from the target community and hostel young girls for skills training. After the women emerge as expert with these skills, they receive a free sewing machine from Uppahar and can generate some income for their livelihood maintenance.
This training is given at Andhra Pradesh and Odisha in different target areas, opening up centers empowering the women in the community setting with respectable work and income sources. Hundreds of young unemployed and unskilled women now find a job to earn support for the family needs. They also stitch clothes for their own family.
